Good to see Janet Charters' The General (1961) in a handsome new 50th anniversary edition, our grotty 1968 reprint does Michael Foreman's gorgeous illustrations a great disservice. What The General does to promote pacifism during the Cold War, Foreman later does for environmental issues in the prescient, Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish (1972).
