what a waste...
I know, still making interesting work too. Must admit I'd not heard Destroy All Monsters (with the late Ron Ashton) before the obituary though... so that's where Kim Gordon got her No-Wave chick schtick!
ahh, there's a little bit more to their connection:-
"Sonic Youth's connection to Mike Kelley stems from his long-time association with Kim Gordon. The pair met in the 1970s, when Gordon was studying at Otis College of Art and Design, in Los Angeles (after briefly attending York University in Toronto, where she started her first noise band as a class project). When she chose to relocate to New York City, they drove cross-country together, cementing their friendship."

Wow, can't believe that someone's gone to the effort of quoting passages of art-noise history on our humble blog, that's dedication! Thanks. Great link to specialist blog too. Sadly saw that Michael Davis (MC5 and Destroy All Monsters) died this week too. Would've liked to re-post some White Panther Party paraphernalia, but there's a paucity of decent source material.
